The perfect tool, one which every household needs, whether its a traditional house with two parents or single parents, every single house needs a good cordless drill. With of course a screwdriver bit or two so we don’t have to strain to add that extra photo to the wall.

Christmas is just around the corner and the cordless drill is probably on every mans Christmas gift list, and sitting on some of the women’s wish lists as well.

I don’t think that I personally could survive without my Ryobi.

Cordless drills and screwdrivers are so necessary and so much a part of any kind of repair or renovation that it makes sense that every home needs more than one actually.

Cordless drills and drivers will vary widely in cost and durability, and choosing the right one will make a big difference in what kind of job you can use it for, as well as how long it will remain usable.

Select a good quality drill and driver to make sure that it won’t let you down in the middle of what may be a weekend project.

Check out the drills you might be interested in at any good quality home center or department store such as Sears, Home Depot or Ryobi. Take careful note of how much they weigh, as well as how well they are balanced in your hand, particularly if you are a female.

While it may not be politically correct to say so, we tend to have less forearm strength than our male counterparts.
Choosing a drill that has more weight than we can comfortably use isn’t going to make the job any easier, and when the drill wobbles dangerously while we are trying to set a straight hole, its definitely not a scenario that is conducive to a fun project.

I like a drill with a rubber cushioning to make it more comfortable to hold on to, as well as one that doesn’t take a thousand pounds of pressure to change the clutch or use the chuck.

Contoured grips and rubber cushioning on some models make them very comfortable, even when you’re applying direct palm pressure. While you’re at it, see how easy it is to change clutch settings and operate the keyless chuck.

Some of the choices you may see out there during your shopping trip into tool world are:

12 Volt Makita, Cordless Drill driver, which has a lightweight design, super balance and a retail of just about 110.00 USD

DeWalt High performance, a super drill and a great value at about 139.00 USD

Porter Cable, another high end with 220 watts out, at about 125 USD

Panasonic, a very lightweight choice at under 4 pounds and good balance with a retail of about 125.00 USD
and my own personal favorite, the Ryobi, which has about 14 volts and some serious driving power and retails for about 110.USD>

When you purchase online, even if it seems like a great deal, make it a point to take into consideration the shipping costs to be sure that your great deal is really so great.
