What is more delicious than apple butter. My gramma used to bake a world class pound cake and rather than toast, she would toast some pound cake and spread it with her amazing apple butter.
Now that was a treat worth being good for.
5 pounds of Cortland or Macintosh Apples
2 cups of Apple Cider
4 cups granulated sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon Lemon zest
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt.
cut apples into quarters and do not peel. Place them all into a heavy stock pot and add the cider, simmering
until they become tender, or about two hours.
provess it in your blender til it gives up about 6 cups of apple pulp. combine it with sugar, cinnamon, lemon and cloves and mix well in a heavy sauce pan.
Place over medium heat and broil then simmer about an hour til it is thickened.
