This tasty recipe is prepared the night before you serve it so it is great for the holidays when you may have guests, or just for those of us who aren’t morning people.
1 loaf French bread
6 eggs beaten
3/4 C milk
1 Tbsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp baking powder
1 16 oz. package frozen strawberies thawed
4 ripe bananas sliced
1 tsp cinnamon mixed with 1 tsp sugar
confectioners sugar for garnish
Cut bread into slices about 1 inch thick and place bread slices into a large bowl.
Mix together eggs, milk and vanilla extract, and pour over bread. Press bread down to absorb mixture. Cover and refrigerate for 8 to 10 hours.
After bread is done chilling stir together bananas, strawberries and sugar in a lightly greased 9×13 baking pan and arrange soaked bread slices over fruit mixture and pour any remaining egg mixture over bread slices. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
Place dish on a baking sheet.
Bake at 450 F for 20 to 30 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving. sprinkle with powdered sugar.
