These are the chewiest and best brownie flavored cookies I’ve ever eaten, and they are absolutely great for kids lunch time treats as well as for holiday cookies.

The dough freezes very well so that they can be baked on demand, and they are hardy to send in parcels, so if your cookies are going a distance these should be part of the holiday package.

2/3 cups margarine or crisco

1 and 1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1 tablespoon water

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 eggs

1 and 1/2 cup flour

1/3 cup cocoa

1/4 tsp soda

1/2 tsp salt

2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 375 F

Combine crisco or margarine with sugar, water, and vanilla and beat til creamy and well blended,

add eggs to mixture and beat til well mixed

combine flour with cocoa, baking soda and salt..

mix with creamed ingredients

add chocolate chips and drop by rounded teaspoons onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake 7-9 minutes and do not over-bake.

allowed to cool on sheet for about three minutes before moving.

The brownie cookies taste more like brownies than brownies themselves and I think you’re going to find that more than one batch is necessary to keep ahead of the demand.
