Bake an individual loaf for each child and they will be delighted to have their own child size loaf of break to cut with a plastic knife.
It was always a favorite of the neighborhood children to come to our house for a morning play date. My kids have been eating it since before they had teeth and if my kids love it than yours will too!
Ingredients:
- 3 medium sized bananas
- 1 cup sugar
- ½ cup shortening
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups flour
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Mash the bananas in the bottom of your mixing bowel. Slowly add the sugar with power on low/stir. Mix in the shortening and then scrape the sides of the bowel. Add the eggs, soda, salt, and vanilla and mix. Slowly add the flour and mix well. Spread the dough from the bowel (do not scrape the beaters because they collect banana strings) in a large greased and floured bread pan. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour until a toothpick inserted in the middle is clean.
