Holiday cookies are supposed to be pleasant to look at and fun to make. These jewel like Christmas cookies fill the bill in both departments.
Aside from being truly delicious, these eye catching Christmas cookies make a very appealing gift, and look superb hung in a window or from your Christmas tree.
I put my own in zip lock baggies and hang them after they are sealed so that they are still edible for the folks who might like to pluck a cookie from the Christmas tree and nibble.

Ingredients
1 and 1/2 cups all purpose flour, sifted
1/3 cup butter
3 tablespoons sugar
1 egg white
2 tablespoons orange juice
8 ounces of colored fruit candy
colored ribbons to decorate or hand them from
Preheat your oven to 350
line two baking sheets with parchment paper
sift the flour into the bowl and rub or cut the butter into the flour until it resembles fine crumbs.
Stir in the sugar, egg whites, and orange juice to form a soft dough.
Roll out to a thin layer and stamp with a tree or wreath shaped cookie cutter.
Using a half inch round shape, or a bottle top, stamp out six shapes from each cookie.
Cut each lifesaver or candy into three and place a piece in each hole.
Make a small hole in the top of each tree to thread the ribbons through
Bake 15 to 20 minutes until the cookies are golden brown and the candies have melted.
